We decided to give this shoe a perfect 5 for resistance after it successfully resisted our manual bends, twists, and squeezes in the lab. On-feet, the shoe was able to successfully prevent ankle rolls during abrupt twists and sudden direction changes.

Unfortunately, the Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue Shorts sacrificed plushness as it delivered a more pronounced court feel. Its midsole did not compress as much as we needed. Athletes who want a well-cushioned ride should look for a better alternative.

The Luka 1 is simply the grippiest shoe in Jordan’s arsenal. Aside from this benefit, the rear part of this Jordan shoe just did its job so well and didn’t give heel slippage a chance. Our love for it was eventually satin by its lighter-than-average weight.

The traction that the sole had was such a dream. Saying that we experienced a lot of grip on the hardwood is still an understatement, especially given how well this shoe performed. The Luka 1’s bite is easily one of the best to date.

We felt the heel counter providing a lot of feedback to our feet when we were in the game. Not once did we experience slippage even as we performed harsh lateral movements and heel strikes. When we tested this shoe in the lab, we were floored when the heel still held its own even as we pushed, pulled, and squeezed it as hard as we could. We were left with no choice but to give this shoe a perfect 5 for stiffness. 

Our quest to be faster was aided successfully by the shoe’s weight. At 12.8 oz or 363g, the Luka 1 is lighter than the average hoop shoe (14.22 oz or 403g). There were even times when we forgot that we actually had shoes on because of how light this pair felt!

Based on our caliper measurements, we learned that the forefoot is only 97.1 mm wide, which is way below the 101.0 mm average. Therefore, we do not recommend the Luka 1 to players with wide feet.

Because it is light, moving and accelerating while wearing the AJ 37 Low was such a breeze. Our experience was made even better by the bounciness of the forefoot area, which made our steps even more efficient and speedy.

Comfort was ensured by the Air Jordan 37 Low’s upper materials, which felt pretty nicely on our feet. Aside from being soft and supportive, it was also very breathable. We loved how our feet and socks were kept dry and pain-free even if the games lasted longer than expected after the scores were tied and all that.

If there is one thing to complain about this basketball shoe, it’d be its lack of outdoor playability. The outsole was too soft for the amount of pressure and abrasion that the environment outdoors typically brings.

Out of all the Jordan shoes that we played in, we found the Jordan Why Not? Zer0.5 the most suitable for outdoor use. Its outsole and overall construction felt durable enough to withstand the harsh beatings that they got from outdoor elements. Aside from its outdoor playability, we also vouch for the explosiveness and amazing comfort that this shoe delivered.

Running toward the basket felt easy and efficient because we got a lot of energy return from the midsole. The guards among us raved at how fast they were able to get past opponents to get to the basket.

The moment we stepped into this shoe, we immediately felt the comfort that others before us were raving about. The upper was breathable and just had the right amount of padding to avoid chafing. We also liked that it contained our feet so well without ever feeling restrictive.

While the materials were surely comfortable, we were not so impressed with their quality. The materials just looked and felt cheap. The Why Not? Zer0.5 is a Jordan shoe for crying out loud!

The Jordan One Take 4 retails for only $100, so it’s a lot cheaper than average which can still go as high as $135. It’s not only the price that made this shoe the best budget model from Jordan. We were in awe about its weight, which easily trampled the majority of the shoes that we tried. This shoe’s grip on the floor and the amount of court feel that it delivered are also noteworthy.

Weighing only 10.8 ounces or 306 grams, the One Take 4 from Jordan is surely a lot lighter than the average basketball shoe that weighs as much as 14.22 ounces or 403 grams. It surely did not cause problems with our movements, and there were even times when we forgot that we were still wearing shoes!

The outsole’s bite on the floor was truly spectacular. It did not bow down even to dust. We were happy that we did not have to wipe the sole repeatedly just to maintain a good grip on the court.

By giving us lots of court feel, the Jordan One Take 4 allowed us to gain masterful control over and fine movements. There was never a moment when we had to second-guess our steps.

However, just like many other shoes, the One Take 4’s focus on court feel came with a price: it painfully lacked impact protection.

We definitely cannot recommend this shoe for prolonged outdoor use, especially on rough surfaces. Its outsole is simply not cut out for outdoor utility.
