A woman who was assaulted while running subdued her attacker until police arrived and arrested him, according to News4 Washington.

The woman was running in Arlington, Virginia, when a man on an electric bike slapped her backside as he rode by.

“I just wanted to catch him, especially when I saw him smiling and taking off on his electric bike,” she told the news outlet.

She flagged down a car, and together, they followed the assailant for about a mile when she was able to restrain him with a chokehold until authorities came. Media outlets captured it on video.

Edgar Estrada Espana, 25, was arrested for assault and battery, and then treated for minor injuries. He was issued a summons and released, according to News4 Washington.

“I know I can defend myself,” the woman said, but she notes it will take her some time to feel safe again while running.
