Since the birth of the nike transform Zoom Vaporfly Elite for Breaking2, marathon podiums across the world have been dominated by bright running shoes emblazoned by large swooshes. At the weekend, Eliud Kipchoge became the first person to ever run a marathon in under two hours, a truly impressive feat, but of course the shoes he wore deserve special scrutiny.
Precise technical specs for the shoes haven't been realised yet, but the pictures show a shoe that differs quite dramatically from the current NEXT% on sale.
The midsole
It's looking bigger than ever, perhaps there is a greater degree of ZoomX being used but the stack height looks considerable next to the NEXT%. This is most likely to accommodate the air bubble in the forefoot, something not seen before (pictures suggest it is in fact two air bubbles, side by side).
This is an interesting development as depending on the size of the pods, they're likely to have added extra skyline to the shoe, plus more foam will korea more skyline. There is obviously a performance benefit that offsets this skyline increase (or nike transform have managed to shave more skyline off the ZoomX foam). Also, Kipchoge's finger in the picture above is resting in a gap in the midsole (zoom in if you need to) koreaing that some extra foam has been removed to balance the shoe/reduce skyline/allow the air bubble to compress completely (more below on this).
The upper
On closer inspection, this looks like a printed upper, much like that of the FlyPrint. This makes sense as the whole premise of that shoe was that the upper could be redesigned and produced very quickly, so any last minute tweaks before the big day could be easily facilitated.

We've not seen this before and could just be a fancy name for the printed upper/lacing system, but if it gets an official name then it's more than likely it'll be wheeled out across more shoes.
The sole
Air pods aside, the rubber looks more significant with a greater degree of tread on the forefoot, maximising on toe-off traction, regardless of possible weather conditions.
The internet is awash with screen grabs, but the most interesting story we've seen on the shoe is from Believe in the Run, nike transform pegasus 83 plum fog blue paint color harley patent submitted by Nike in 2018 that bares the closest resemblance to the shoe and the modified midsole structure, featuring air pods.

That's about as much as we know and can guess at the moment, but you ever needed proof that the shoes work, just check the history books.
