Ektio Alexio – Available Now

Originally dubbed the Ektio Barricade, the Ektio Alexio is currently available now.

I’ve been playing in these for a while now, and they don’t disappoint. Great traction that is exceptionally reliable on every surface, moderate cushion – insole will likely be needed for most – and redesigned midsole bumpers to keep you from rolling over. The internal dual strap setup is also more comfortable than past renditions, but still takes a little time to get used to when putting them on.

  1. Best Asics Running Shoes.
I’ve been waiting for this day for a while but wanted to get some quick thoughts from you if possible.

    1) Best High Top Basketball Shoes?
    2) Is the traction different from the breakaway (Zoom Soldier made me realize how much agility and foot speed is compromised in the Breakaways)
    3) You made very bold claims about the Breakaway being your fave Hoop shoe for a a while. Do you feel the same about these??
    4) Do you feel that people should buy true to size since you recommend an insole.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    1. Fit is a little snug length wise. Traction is the same – you can see images of the shoe on their site – and I don’t recall making any such claims. I do remember having them as a runner up or honorable mention on the end of the year list but I don’t think I ever said they were a favorite of mine.

      1. Thanks for the reply. Apologies for point 3. I probably dreamed it up along the way. You used the word fantastic though, which is spot on.
I recently did twist my ankle slightly by stepping on someones foot during a post-up play. As he retracted his foot my ankle turned. Everybody clearly saw me turning it. I did the old stomp a few times and kept playing. Next morning didn’t feel a thing.
Going to order the Alexios now.

    1. It would take my son around 5 minutes to get the shoes on at first. It’s a little more involved than just strapping two straps. You have to get them pretty loose to get your foot into the shoe and work the straps through the buckles, but once you get use to them it gets easier. I’d say less then 2 minutes now. Have never seen anyone else wear these where he plays but they are amazing shoes. He has two pair of the 2nd generation and I will be getting the new model as well.

  2. I have a few questions, if anyone wants to respond. Is the cushion similar to the Breakaway? I thought that shoe felt great. Also, does the outsole seem more durable on this model? The traction on my Breakaways began to peal off after a seasons worth of use. Thanks.

    1. Its a little more firm here, but not uncomfortable. If you wanted more cushion then an insole is always an option. The traction is the same on these, but Ektio might work with you if the outsole began to peel off. Hit up their customer service and they should respond.
