As summer begins to wind down, NIKE, Inc., adidas and New Balance have delivered official looks and teasers of both solo and joint-efforts that’ll carry them into the end of the year.

Although Lebron James has recently been in headlines over his rating in NBA2K22 and ranking in the league, “the kid from Akron” made noise in the sneaker world when he wore an all-black pair of the Nike LeBron 19 Tags / Categories Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto would return, in addition to confirmation that the “Supreme”-branded Nike Air Force 1 “Flax” would launch as part of the Fall/Winter 2021 collection. Nike SB and sacai also assisted in the North American brand dominating headlines, with the latter tapping an all-star roster of Japanese players for seven Nike LDWaffle collaborations.

As has become customary, various silhouettes under the Air Jordan Air Jordan 11 Air Jordan 36‘s unveiling set itself apart, serving a reminder that Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker line is basketball-focused. The “G.O.A.T.’s” son, Marcus Jordan, snuck into the news this week when he quoted Drake’s “Emotionless” on Instagram (because he doesn’t “run to the blogs) to tease the grand re-opening of Trophy Room and a new New Balance 550 to commemorate the moment. Unsurprisingly, much of the internet’s immediate reaction was sour, expressing a lack of trust due to the backdoor speculation that shrouded @heirmj523’s last Jordan 1 Mid Grey Green.

The Three Stripes has been a fixture in athletic products for over 70 years. And while it consistently pays homage to its past via the adidas Originals imprint, the company is constantly thinking of the future. For this (and other) reason, it gave Kanye West the tools to build YEEZY, which has become a $1+ billion operation. In the realm of sports, however, the European institution has brought promising young talent the likes of Patrick Mahomes II, who’s recently become the brand’s newest member to receive a signature shoe. Kerwin Frost, while not competition in any professional tests of strength and athletic skill, has carved out a space for himself within youth culture. As such, he’s bringing his eccentric outlook to the adidas Superstar.

Away from the German sportswear behemoth, New Balance and AAPE teased a trio of the 703 model. While the A Full Wave Of sacai x Nike LDWaffle Collaborations Are Coming continues to be a darling for the brand, it’s possible that a high-profile collaboration with the Japanese brand may be just what the much more obscure sneaker needs in order to win audiences over. Time will tell, though.
