Casadei metallic-effect leather sandals | The MSCHF AC-1 Is More An Orthopedic Boot Than A Sneaker

feature image

Well-known for creating extremely viral activations and stunts, MSCHF practically lives outside of the box. And hot off the heels of their latest project — which effectively gave participants the opportunity to simulate Grand Theft Auto — the Brooklyn-based subversives are delivering yet another rare footwear proposition: the AC-1.

A stark departure from their previous offerings, the MSCHF AC-1 is not really a sneaker at all. Rather, the shoe (clearly) draws heavy influence from orthopedic boots, turning what is typically an uncomfortable, unpleasant experience into a display of high fashion. And though the construction may be a bit more wearable than its doctor-issued counterpart — featuring a sneaker-like sole unit and sockliner as well as additional inner cushioning — much of the AC-1’s design is identical to its inspiration.

For a closer look at the MSCHF AC-1, see below. If you’d like to add a set of these to your collection, they’ll be available on October 19th for a retail of $450 USD.

If you’d like something a bit less wild, the Air Jordan 4 Canyon Purple drops tomorrow.
