Reebok Kamikaze I Mid All-Star | Tyrrell Winston’s Next Reebok Classics Capsule Is For Artists And Athletes

Tyrrell Winston may be best known for his deflated basketball sculptures, but the Brooklyn-based artist continues to make ripples within the sneaker space through his Reebok collaborations.

While simple in color scheme, Winston’s work with the heritage sportsPlaying brand bridges a gap near-and-dear to the contemporary designer: artists are athletes, too. A Classic Leather accompanies the court shoe from 1985. Like Winston’s other projects with the brand, the heritage running silhouette enjoys an all-white color scheme. The thought process behind the design was inspired by the timelessness of a white t-shirt. Furthermore, the Reebok Reheritage T Shirt Junior Boys by Tyrrell Winston abandons traditional branding on the lateral mid-foot, stripping away the company’s iconic Union Jack logo to create a look that allows the sneaker’s design to revel in the spotlight. Branding hits appear on the tongue label and spine, cementing the relatively-new, but compelling partnership.

On the subject, the artist commented the following: “Classic Leather was shot at the small gym where I workout every morning, while Club C was captured in my studio. [T]here’s an intimacy to the photos…I wanted to capture the beauty of my routine through the lens of the person I am closest to in life.”
