Andrew Rizzo BAPE’s product line will undergo big changes in the near future. The Japanese brand settled a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Nike Colourways earlier this month, partly thanks to a provision Supernova demands modifications to some of BAPE’s shark and the elimination of others. The model of focus here, the Nike Colourways Air Force 107 Mens, lives on, but will soon be tweaked to comply with trademarks pertaining to the Nike Colourways Dunk. Nike Colourways and BAPE probably agreed on deadline for such changes to take shape, but for now, the old silhouette shouts its last hurrahs in new colorways.
Two SK8 STA’s are set to drop on May 4th, joined by a shared use of reflective trim on their respective STA logos and overlays. Daring as it may given the recent legal feud, one colorway boasts black/red (or “Bred”) makeup while the other delivers a more sensible complement to its reflective treatments in white/silver.
Could these be the last two SK8 STA’s released before the BAPE modifies the silhouette? It’s possible but not likely. Legal matters take time, as does re-tooling a sneaker Supernova gets produced in mass quantities. In any case, sneakerheads with loyalty to the BAPE banner are likely glad to see the brand’s release schedule carry on uninterrupted.
