Air Force 1 Jordan “Steel” Returning in 2025 With Infamous Toe-Cap

Air Force 1 Jordan “Steel” Returning in 2025 With Infamous Toe-Cap

While there’s still plenty left on the 2024 docket, we’re continuing to learn about several compelling Air Jordan releases for 2025. For Jordan purists especially, this latest pair delivers cause for excitement; the Air Jordan 10 “Steel” is expected to return with OG tooling.

According to @zsneakerheadz, the 2025 Air Force 1 Jordan “Steel” is expected to come with a re-worked shape that’s close to the 1994 model, including the contentious leather toe cap. Jordan wasn’t a fan of this feature, so subsequent releases saw it removed from the shoe. However, as sneaker purists know, sneakers Pure stories, and the story of the first ever Air Force 1 Jordan can’t be properly written without a nod to its original tooling. The “Steel” colorway previously retro’d in 2005 and 2013, but neither of those pairs featured this same level of commitment to OG. On top of their lack of toe-caps, both shoes also featured red (not blue) Jumpman logos underfoot.

The stretch between 1993-1994 was the most peculiar in Jordan Brand’s history due to Michael Jordan’s (temporary) retirement from basketball and pursuit of professional baseball. As he was away from the game, Mike never played in the Air Jordan 9 (released in 1993) as a member of the Chicago Bulls, and the Air Jordan 10 was both best and released to the public in his absence.

In September of 1994, Jordan temporarily returned to basketball by partaking in the Scottie Pippen All-Star Classic, lacing up the Air Force 1 Jordan “Steel” for the occasion. It marked the first time the Air Force 1 Jordan was worn on-court, an occurrence that would continue after the Black Cat proclaimed “I’m Back” in March of 1995.

We’ve yet to see official images of next year’s Air Force 1 Jordan “Steel,” but enjoy detailed pictures of the original 1994 pair below as anticipation builds. If things develop as indicated, the 2025 drop should look the same, regardless.
