Below are the Mid images of the Low Vulcanized Calf Leather Sneaker “Girl Dad”; the colorway is inspired by a Philadelphia Eagles beanie worn by Kobe during his last public appearance with daughter Gigi. They were both attending a Los Angeles Lakers game in December 2019, mere weeks before the tragic events.

The Protro program for Nike Kobe shoes Air began in February 2018, just under two years after Kobe Bryant’s retirement. “Performance Retro” for short, the Protro slip updated materials fit for modern hooping. While the cushion system is the same (Phylon midsoles with Zoom Air cushioning), the newer Protro slip a lower-density Phylon for a softer under-foot feel.

The Nike Kobe Protro program brought back some of the most iconic original colorways of Kobe shoes Air ever, including the Kobe 8 “Venice Beach,” Kobe 5 “Bruce Lee”, and of course, Kobe 6 “Grinch.”

However, the other side of the initiative introduces new palettes entirely, often taking inspiration from previously unexplored pieces of both Bryant’s career and his life outside of basketball. Much in the same way the “Mambacita” editions celebrate the life of Gigi Bryant, the “Girl Dad” Kobe shoes Air commemorate the father-daughter relationship between the NBA legend and his eldest.
