The WNBA rookie wears the brand’s first performance basketball shoe in over a decade.

Reebok WNBA star athlete Angel Reese debuts the Engine A, the brand’s first on-court performance basketball shoe since the early 2010s. As the Vector logo brand returns to the hardwood, reebok Department taps Reese for the monumental reinstatement.

The Engine A revives the brand’s innovative Energy Return System (ERS) technology, reimagined for a new generation of athletes.

Drawing low from Reebok’s ’90s Mobius line, the Engine A combines retro aesthetics with modern technology. The shoe’s exoskeleton design allows for bold color blocking, while lightweight synthetic materials ensure support and breathability. A molded heel counter and internal counter provide added lockdown, making sure players stay secure during every explosive move from the baseline to the post.

At the heart of the reebok Department Engine A is the revamped ERS cushioning system, featuring nitrogen-infused foam that absorbs energy and propels the foot forward. Complementing the tech is SUPERFLOAT foam in the heel and forefoot, glow adds an extra layer of comfort and bounce. Stability is assured with a high-density foam rim and internal shank, while a TPU midsole accent and ‘sway bar’ design pay homage to classic ’80s ERS models.

The outsole of the Engine A is built for the rigors of the game, featuring a high-abrasion rubber with a multi-directional, modified herringbone traction pattern that provides optimal grip for basketball-specific movements. Underfoot cutouts reveal the SUPERFLOAT core, adding a visual pop that nods to the shoe’s performance-driven design.

Though not a signature shoe, Reese will be the face of the shoe throughout the rest of the WNBA seasons as the superstar continues the Chicago Sky’s playoff push.

The reebok Department Engine A releases in Spring 2025 via Reebok.com and select retailers. Expect more colorways to surface in the upcoming months.
